- 1862 Liberty Seated Silver Dollar. Proof-62 (NGC). Pretty iridescent gold highlights enhance both sides of this fully struck and highly reflective specimen. Similar in overall rarity to the 1859 and 1860, the 1862 is one of the more frequently encountered Proofs of this type. On the other hand, demand from type collectors seeking a high grade No Motto Liberty Seated dollar is strong. When combined with the additional demand from series specialists looking for an alternative to a Mint State 1862 silver dollar - which coins are rare - Proofs of this date are understandably scarce from a market availability standpoint.
