All Proof gold is rare, and often, because of its rarity, quite expensive. This '03 Proof $5 slipped briefly into circulation. The eye appeal for a circulated Proof coin is very high end. Usually these are quite hacked up, as the delicate nature of the Proof surfaces show marks, lines, etc. The present coin retains much of its original mirrored reflection. Nicely toned in the devices, this coin does have a great look and should entice strong bidding from anyone who desires a piece of Proof gold without the large price tag. Only 154 were struck.
