- 1858 Liberty Seated Half Dime. MS-66 (NGC). CAC. This richly original Gem is layered in handsome toning of steel-olive, pearl gray, powder blue, antique gold and pale pink. Bountiful mint frost further blankets surfaces that are smooth and attractive in all regards. From a generous mintage of 3,500,000 circulation strikes, and ideal for inclusion in a high quality type set that requires an example of the Liberty Seated with Drapery half dime. Obverse die diagnostics for this piece include a downward slope of the date from left to right and overzealous die polishing on the part of Mint employees that effaced most of the drapery around Liberty's left elbow, as well as the pole around her hand.
