1869 Pattern Half Dollar. Judd-749, Pollock-832. Rarity-6+. Proof-65 (NGC). Standard Silver design, the obverse with a right-facing bust of Liberty as the focal device. Liberty is wearing a diadem inscribed LIBERTY, and her hair is tied in a bun. The legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is at the border and the motto IN GOD WE TRUST is on a scroll below the portrait. On the reverse, a wreath of oak and laurel leaves encircles the denomination 50 CENTS with the inscription STANDARD SILVER above and the date 1869 below. Struck in silver with a plain edge.<br /> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;A fully original piece, an otherwise untoned obverse exhibits iridescent cobalt-blue and copper-rose patina at the border. The same colors are well blended over the entire reverse. The obverse is nicely cameoed in finish, and both sides are equally free of troublesome blemishes. Among the finest known!
