This is a wonderful collector grade example of this scarce early San Francisco mint Seated Liberty half dollar. Possessing nicely defined devices that show just a hint of friction on the highest points and in the fields with traces of mint luster under a dusting of pastel iridescent toning. Only 158,000 were struck, and these clearly circulated heavily. The majority of certified examples are graded below XF45. These are truly RARE and highly desirable in AU or finer grades. PCGS 6, NGC 1. This is NOT the coin that sold in August 2021 for $3,120. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $3,250. Fewer than twenty have been graded higher than this AU50 at PCGS.
