Rich, intense mirrors sparkle and flash from below a totally original blend of sea-green, russet, and lilac hues that mix with orange-gold throughout. There are areas of untoned silver surfaces that stand out with a glittery reflection. Both sides show exacting definition from a precise blow from the dies, and there is a moderate field/device contrast. The surfaces are essentially pristine and devoid of any flaws worthy of mention. The eye appeal is excellent. Only 972 Proofs were minted. PCGS 3, NGC 3. Only three are graded finer at NGC, 2 in PR68 CAM and a single PR69 CAM. There are two APRs, both from earlier this year, one at $2,524 and the other a $2,340. We suspect this coin should bring a stronger price. Keep in mind a PR68 CAM would bring $6,000-$7,000.
