With a mintage of over two million, you would think this coin to be somewhat common, even in mint state. Clearly very few were saved at the time of issue, and very few survive in Very CHOICE and GEM grades. Lovely, totally original toning over satiny luster and well struck devices. PCGS 10, NGC 12, CAC 4. No CAC-approved coins have ever sold in auction. Going back as far as our database does, only 9 PCGS MS64 coins have sold since 1999. Prior to 2016 these all brought $2,000 or more; the most recent coin sold in June 2016 for $1,528 and CU lists a value of $1,950. Very rare any finer! Bound for a high quality set of Barber dimes.
