- Rare in mint-state, the 1867-S typically gets representation in collections by nicer "about-uncirculated" examples of which the supply still gets outstripped by demand. And this is for sure a nicer example, standing at the upper end of AU-55 given that the reverse appears to be fully mint-state. Just a whisper of circulation has erased a bit of luster from the obverse fields, yet the coin remains vivid and attractive, especially combined with lovely medium gold hue.
