- 1912-S Barber Dime. MS-66+ (PCGS). CAC. Speckles of light olive-russet iridescence overlay a blanket of antique silver patina on both sides of this pleasingly original piece. Sharp, satiny and exceptionally well preserved. This is an underrated Barber dime from the 1910s, and it is more challenging to locate in Mint State that the 1911, 1911-D, 1911-S, 1912, 1912-D, 1913, 1914, 1914-D, 1915, 1916 and 1916-S. Writing in the 2009 book Collecting & Investing Strategies for Barber Dimes, our own Jeff Ambio also states that the 1912-S is rarer in the finest Mint State grades than the low mintage 1913-S, as well as the 1893, 1900, 1908-O and 1909.
