- FROM THE BIG CYPRESS COLLECTION All Carson City mint Seated Liberty dollars are conditionally RARE issues, usually random survivors of tiny mintages. Only 3,150 of this issue were coined, and Mint State examples number fewer than 30 between PCGS and NGC combined. Osburn-Cushing suggest fewer than 30 survive in Uncirculated grade, and Rusty Goe's latest estimate is 17-20. The Population Data backs up both expert assertions--this is a RARE coin so fine! Pearly-silver-gray surfaces have a subtle lilac and gold infusion that comes out as you rotate the coin in a light. Generally well struck with bold devices on both sides. There are a few minor ticks and traces of contact that are noted with a glass, and account for the assigned grade. The eye appeal is pleasing overall, and this date is EXTREMELY RARE any finer! PCGS 5, NGC 1. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $30,000, which is around the mean of the last ten PCGS MS62 appearances that go back to 1999 (which comes to $32,463). This is a very important opportunity for the collector. Note that PCGS has graded just four finer, including the Carnegie Museum-Sonnet-Hirst-Richmond-Sierra Biker MS63 that brought a world record $192,000 in the 2021 ANA auction. If you are looking for a problem free and high grade example of this RARE date and do not want to spend into the six figures for a 63, you must bid on this BU example! Good luck. Cert.
