详细说明: This is one of the most coveted early Carson City issues and best of all in a high collector grade! Just a touch of light wear from a short term in wild west commerce can be seen in the fields as some friction, and there is just some light rub on the high points of the design types. Generally soft pewter and dove patina shows accents of gold and lilac with a few deeper russet specks present, attesting to the originality of this rare coin. The first year of coinage at Carson City saw a mintage of 54,617 half dollars, but from that number only a few hundred survive, the vast majority of them showing either extensive circulation and/or some sort of condition problems. Five pairs of dies have been identified by Wiley and Bugert, this being WB-101, die pair 2, and this is the Plate coin in their reference. PCGS 4, NGC 5. Prior to the recent sale in the 2019 FUN Auction, there was an example that sold in the 2016 ANA auction for $28,200. There is a record of $30,000 back in July 2009 . RARE in all grades, and especially so any finer. Hence collectors seeking an example for their collections must fight over the few that are offered. When a handsome coin like this comes to market, then all bets are off as to where it might land.
