- THE TERRA PISTACIA COLLECTION Ex Eliasberg Collection A very high grade example of this transitional pattern. Using regular dies struck in bronze, rather than copper-nickel, with a plain edge, and struck in medal, not coin turn. This is one of the FINEST graded examples in the BN category at PCGS, with just one finer. Deeply and richly toned, but quite attractive with accents of golden brown and iridescent highlights. The underlying mirrors are flashy and bold bringing the colors out to their finest advantage. Sharply rendered, the devices are crisp and fully formed. A light tick or two can be found with lots of effort, but clearly they have no impact on the technical or aesthetic qualities. An important Civil War era issue that is quite rare finer. Ex Louis E. Eliasberg Collection, Bowers & Merena, May 1996, lot 136. PCGS 7, NGC 5, CAC 2. It has been nearly a dozen years since the last PCGS PR66 BN sold in auction. This coin brought $2,750 in 1996. The current PCGS Price Guide value is $5,000 and the CAC CPG is $3,440. Only one PR66+ BN has sold in auction, realizing a record $7,931 in our October 2017 Regency Auction. This important coin will sell for a strong bid. Cert. Number 4491616 PCGS # 60454
