- 1921 Buffalo Nickel. MS-67 (PCGS). A captivating Superb Gem with intense satin luster and vivid iridescent toning to both sides. The obverse is dressed in a blended lemon-yellow color, while for the reverse we note pale gold peripheral highlights around an untoned center. Fully struck, expertly preserved, and a delight to behold. The Philadelphia Mint reduced Buffalo nickel output by 52.4 million coins between 1920 and 1921. Despite the significantly lower mintage, 1921 nickels are available through MS-66. On the other hand, this issue becomes scarce in Superb Gem Mint State as offered here.
