- PHILIPPINES. Philippines - Peru. 8 Reales, ND (1834-37). Manila Mint. Isabel II. PCGS Genuine--Damage, VF Details; Countermark: EF Details. KM-136 (plate coin); Basso-56; PNM#6-163; PNM#16-354; PNM#21-VIII-152; Cacho-Type IX CS-022; Gil-5-4-1-II. Type VI countermark crowned Y.II. within circle. Countermark applied to the obverse of a 1823-LIMA JP Peru "Libre" 8 Reales; Short tassels variety. Countermark double struck on the obverse with the second strike nearly obliterating the first strike and rotated. The notated damaged is a result of a planchet lamination that has separated. With moderate wear one would expect from the time and a few old cleaning hairlines, this example is still a presentable with an excellent provenance. Estimate: $1,500 - $2,500.
