- The 1922 No D is an important KEY date to the series. Only the Denver mint produced cents this year. During production, several dies became clogged with dirt, grease, and other detritus, rendering the obverse details "mushy" and obliterating the D mintmark. On this particular die pairing, the reverse die was not affected by the filled die, and has bold, strong details. Most examples of this issue have to be graded by the reverse primarily, as the details of the obverse are always weak. The present example is a wonderful "slider" just the softest trace of friction keeps it out of a Mint State holder. Wonderful clay-red color with soft golden highlights and traces of a wood grain pattern combine for an amazing look! PCGS 64, NGC 28, CAC 16. The most recent example to sell brought $8,400 in April 2022. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $10,000 and the CAC CPG value is listed at $10,800. RARE in Mint State, this high end example has a great look and will delight any Lincoln cent collector. Cert. Number 40566752 PCGS # 3285
