1871 Liberty Double Eagle. AU-53 (PCGS). Frosty pale orange-gold surfaces exhibit the last vestiges of prooflike surface, a not unusual circumstance on this date which is sometimes found fully prooflike. Sharply struck and exhibiting a few bagmarks, commensurate with the grade. An overall very pleasing example of this lowest mintage date among Philadelphia mint coins, and housed in an Old Green Holder to boot.
