- FROM THE DR. STEPHEN DAVIDSON COLLECTION Two obverse dies were utilized to strike the 1795 Draped Bust dollars; the B-15, BB-52 has Liberty's portrait centered while the other has the central device punched to the left of center. This is a very pleasing CHOICE VF example. Warm dove-gray and pewter-russet tones take on accents of light slate-blue at the peripheries. Generally problem free moderate wear is seen on the surfaces. The devices were generally well impressed before this coin went into circulation. To the naked eye all you see are some mint made adjustment marks in the central obverse. Upon intense scrutiny with a powerful glass, we see some very minor, inconspicuous light lines and ticks, wholly acceptable for the assigned grade. We have seen less eye appealing examples bearing a CAC bean. PCGS 83, NGC 29. Interestingly, no PCGS VF30 has sold in over three years in auction, but in the 2021 ANA auction an NGC-graded example sold for $4,920 and a PCGS VF25 sold in July 2021 for $5,310. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $6,500. A fantastic collector oriented grade example that will delight any one looking for a pleasing mid-grade example of this first year of issue. The action will be fierce on this one! Cert. Number 31843265 PCGS # 6858
