- 1912 United States Assay Commission Medal. By Charles E. Barber and George T. Morgan. JK AC-56. Rarity-6. Silver. MS-64 (NGC). 45 mm. A fine-grain sand blast finish characterizes the surfaces of this untoned silver-gray specimen. Both sides are sharply defined with a smooth appearance in hand that borders on full Gem quality. According to the Julian-Keusch reference on this series, 25 silver impressions from these dies were delivered on February 7, 1912. This is only the second example that we have offered since 2008, and it is a bit finer than the Keusch Collection specimen sold as lot 5304 in our (Stack's) November 2008 sale.
