THE SOMMELIER COLLECTION This is a common date in a very uncommon condition! Indeed, this SUPERB GEM is bested by just three coins. It is a marvel that it has survived in such a pristine state of preservation. A truly vibrant luster has a blend of textures, from partially reflective to satiny and frosted. The eye appeal is truly AMAZNG! A richer tangerine-honey gold patina graces both sides framing the sharply struck devices. The frosted texture on the design elements stand out nicely against the blazing brilliance, smoothness, and cleanliness of the devices. PCGS 39, NGC 30, CAC 16. There are five in MS67+ and just a trio are graded finer. The most recent example sold in our July 2018 Regency Auction, from the Chester Roche Collection, realizing $5,875 on an estimate of $3,200-$3,500. This one is nicer and should sell for more.
