- This R-6+ pattern, featuring Charles Barber's famed Wash Lady design, is among the most popular and desired types in all of the patterns listed in the Judd book. Barber presents Liberty's head facing left with her hair up in a pony tail, headband inscribed Liberty. IN GOD WE TRUST and 13 stars surround. The reverse has a perched eagle with olive branch and arrows, E PLURIBUS UNUM above. Tied with just one other as FINEST graded in the CAMEO designation at PCGS. Indeed, only the PR67 DCAM in the Simpson Collection is finer. Superb, watery mirrors beam from below variegated cobalt, violet, and rose toning that evenly blankets both sides. Typical to the type the central portions of the design types are somewhat blunt in strike, showing some softness in the eagle's breast feathers. The eye appeal really is special, and this pattern issue PCGS 2, NGC 0, CAC 1. The most recent J-1597 in CAM to sell in auction was the Queller-Lemus NGC PR66 CAM that sold for $32,900 in May 2016. We sold a PCGS PR66 in February 2014 (Regency Auction VI) for $30,550. As the finest available on the current market, and with new collectors coming into the pattern specialty, this coin could see a runaway price. Somehow, PCGS has come up with an estimate of $45,000 for their Price Guide, but when this AMAZING SUPERB GEM crosses the block, that level may prove low! It may well be a very long time before another high grade example becomes available! Bid liberally here if you want to bring home one of the most beautiful of all pattern coinage designs that happens to be one of the finest examples in existence! Cert. Number 85187668 PCGS # 389268
