Very heavy wear notwithstanding, this is an honestly circulated and remarkably attractive example given the pleasing, reasonably smooth walnut-brown color and lack of any environmental effects that typically plague the issue. Amazingly, with a good loupe, the collector can just make out enough of the date to verify "1799" without having to resort to Sheldon attribution, which is a good thing since the reverse provides precious little information after so much wear. Many astute collectors will prefer a smooth example like this over some of the wretched pieces with, say, Fine details but severe surface problems.
