详细说明: 1841-O Liberty Seated Dime. Fortin-101. Rarity-6. Closed Bud Reverse, Large O. VF-25 (PCGS). OGH. A handsome, fully original mid grade example of this scarce and desirable transitional variety in the early New Orleans Mint dime series. Warmly toned in dove gray, both sides also reveal intermingled highlights of reddish-russet. Overall detail is suitably bold for the assigned grade, although the reverse periphery is a bit soft due to the advanced state of that die, a feature that is diagnostic of this variety. The 1841-O Fortin-101 and Fortin-102 are transitional varieties that Gerry Fortin (seateddimevarieties.com) considers "key entries in the Top 100 Liberty Seated Dime Variety set." These two pairings share reverse dies with the 1840-O issue, identifiable by the closed buds in the wreath. Fortin-101 is the Large O variety of this transitional issue, as here, while Fortin-102 is the Small O variety. Both are highly elusive in all grades and worth a substantial premium due to their transitional nature and popularity with series specialists. The present offering for an attractive and problem free Very Fine example represents a fleeting bidding opportunity for the advanced Liberty Seated dime and/or New Orleans Mint enthusiast.
