- SCOTLAND. Ryal, 1569. James VI. NGC VF-35. S-5472; Dav-8463A. With countermark of 1578. Well struck with an evenly applied thistle counterstamp. Pleasant old gray toning highlights the devices. The countermark of 1578 raised the value of the ryal from 30 shillings to 36 s., 6 d., and is seen on the majority of survivors. Estimate: $900 - $1,200. Click here for certification details from NGC.
