A scarce date to begin with, as only 26,000 were struck and precious few were saved at the time of issue, the 1855 Seated Dollar is truly RARE in any Mint State grade. Struck with the typical weakness seen on the wings, this lustrous coin has a great look. The grade in our opinion is spot on, with just a few light lines that keep it from a full CHOICE grade. The surfaces have a pearly-silver luster with a pale, shimmering iridescent type of look that is better than decent. PCGS 12, NGC 6. This coin sold in our November 2018 Regency Auction for $14,688. Our buyer has changed directions in collecting and this nearly CHOICE coin no longer fits in his cabinet. The current Collector's Universe value is listed at $16,500 and keep in mind these are VERY RARE any finer! Remember how hard this date is to find finer, only 8 are so graded and the most recent coin was a six-figure MS64 that sold in June 2014--nearly five years ago! If you are looking for Mint State Seated dollars, do not let this one slip your grasp. Cert. Number 34610325 PCGS # 6943
