Although the mintage is just 10,000 more than the 1893-S, more 1894 silver dollars were saved at the time of issue in Mint State, making this date scarce in all grades, but not a major condition rarity. Brilliant, shimmering, satiny mint luster blooms with a bright vibrance on both sides. Minor weakness at the hair curls above the ear are sharper than normally seen. The surfaces are generally clean, devoid of any serious marks, with just a few light traces of contact that do not detract from the excellent eye appeal. PCGS 403, NGC 226, CAC 43. The current PCGS Population in 63+ is 12. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $5,750 and the most recent examples sold in January 2019, one for $5,040 in the FUN auction, and the other in our RA30 for $5,640.
