The 19-D Buffalo nickel is a tough date in any Mint State grade, and is especially RARE in GEM grade as seen here. Iridescent pastel and pearly tone is amplified by a strong, nickel-silver luster. Sharply struck throughout the design types. This GEM has a great look for the assigned grade. We are not sure why CAC did not give their approval to this GEM, but believe us, the quality is all there!
PCGS 66, NGC 22. The last one we sold brought $6,169 in our December 2020 Regency Auction. The PCGS Price Guide currently lists a value of $4,750. Just 34 are graded finer in all grades to MS66+. This lovely and original looking MS65 1919-D nickel belongs in a great set. Good luck.
