详细说明: 1876 Liberty Seated Half Dollar. WB-106, FS-301. Doubled Date, Large/Small Date. AU-55 (PCGS). A classic rarity with precious few examples currently known. The golden-gray surfaces are somewhat prooflike in the fields and the pale champagne-gold iridescence at the centers turns to deep golden halos at the rims. The remaining luster is substantial and surface marks are minimal. The small underlying date, probably from a dime or other denomination punch, is plainest at the 18 and the 6 of the date. This rare variety first came to light in the late 1980s when the writer (FVV) helped publicize the variety after seeing a specimen that belongs to collector Dennis Fuoss. In the years since its discovery, PCGS has certified just two examples of the variety, one at EF-45 and the present AU-55 specimen, with none finer. This writer has been looking to cherrypick one of these for decades now, to no avail, and we suspect the same can be said for other specialists. Don't let this rare opportunity pass you by.
