- THE TERRA PISTACIA COLLECTION A fabulous and totally original, awesomely pedigreed GEM example of this popular Trade Dollar pattern. Barber's Indian Princess design on the obverse, adopted from the earlier Longacre design, shows a seated Liberty figure with an Indian headdress seated, holding a pole with Liberty cap, and supporting a globe with the word LIBERTY and flags behind. The reverse is a small perched eagle with olive branch and arrows in the talons. E PLURIBUS UNUM in a scroll above, IN GOD WE TRUST in a scroll below. Struck in silver with a reeded edge, this is a Rarity-4 type. Among the five FINEST graded at PCGS, this is a sensational and totally original GEM. Blazing mirrors are dusted with a pleasing mix of gold and pewter-tan that matches the other GEM Trade Dollar patterns being offered, a clear sign that these have been together since they were struck. The reverse shows some die striations and the central devices are somewhat soft on that side. The eye appeal is excellent. Ex Richard B. Winsor Collection, Chapman Brothers, December 1895, lot 1135 (part of a six-piece set, see following lots); J.M. Clapp Collection; Clapp Estate to Eliasberg, via Stack's in 1942; Louis E. Eliasberg Collection, Bowers & Merena, May 1996, lot 305 (called Proof-66). PCGS 3, NGC 1, CAC 3. An example without CAC approval sold in February 2021 for $12,360 and the current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $14,000. Likely held together since time of issue, it is our hope this and the other five Trade Dollar Pattern lots stay together. Good luck. Cert. Number 4491585 PCGS # 61596
