- On Target Collection. VAM-6 repunched mintmark. However, this popular VAM can be more readily detected by noting many fine peripheral die cracks on the reverse. One noticeable scraping abrasions at the obverse lower left probably limits the grade all by itself but the extremely bright surface does exhibit a number of tiny superficial abrasions overall. At least a thousand 1896-S dollars have been certified as finer by PCGS but a much nicer, very select example like this fills a difficult void in many collections.
