FROM THE SEATTLE COLLECTION One of the FINEST graded examples of this R-6- Shield nickel pattern, an intriguing variation where the ball at the base of the shield divides the date and the reverse has the "Dutch" 5 in the wreath reverse. Listed as R-6-, there are 13-20 estimated to survive in all grades. Flashy, chrome-like reflective fields beam with an exquisite depth for the metal. There is a faint blush of iridescent silver-white tone that attests to the wonderful originality of the piece. Sharply rendered, all the details stand out wonderfully against the smooth surfaces. PCGS 4, NGC 2, CAC 1. Last sold for $3,600 in the 2018 FUN auction; prior to that, one sold for $4,230 in the 2013 FUN auction. The current Collectors Universe value is listed at $5,600.
