This is a truly beautiful GEM Proof Seated half dollar. Housed in an NGC "fatty" holder, this coin has great melange of blues, violets, reds, and golds that are exquisitely enveloped around the highly reflective, deeply mirrored fields. The reverse has a darker blend of the same hues, clearly that side was sitting for ages undisturbed on the velvet or paper lined tray. The obverse devices are fully frosted and taken on its own, the obverse is a borderline CAMEO. A few minor, ancient hairlines are intermixed with die polish lines in the obverse fields, and buried under the toning, they are invisible to the naked eye. Only 590 were struck. PCGS 18, NGC 30, CAC 9. The current Collector's Universe value is listed at $2,750 and the most recent NGC/CAC coin to sell in auction realized $2,820 in June 2016 and it did not have the wonderful eye appeal that the presently offered GEM does.
