详细说明: 1787 New Jersey Copper. Maris 68-w, W-5400. Rarity-4. No Sprig Above Plow, Outlined Shield. VF-20 (PCGS). 138.6 grains. An unbelievably choice example of this variety at this grade level, outpacing plenty of high grade examples based on the desirability of its color and surface. Ideal medium brown with hard, glossy surfaces. Two tiny natural pits are seen on the obverse, one at the ears and another near the mane low on the neck. On the reverse, just a small unstruck area of inherent planchet texture is visible to the lower right of the shield. The eye appeal is superb, and the surfaces are pristine. A carefully inked PDV or painted die variety has survived in good shape in the right obverse field. Die State 2, with a bulge in the left obverse field but no visible die cracks. This may not be a Condition Census piece, though the eight-coin SHI census does include two VF+ coins and three VFs. It undoubtedly surpasses some coins ranked above it based strictly upon preservation and eye appeal. Provenance: From the E Pluribus Unum Collection. PCGS# 783098.
