A very impressive GEM CAMEO Proof 1856 3 cent silver. One of the FINEST survivors of a low mintage of a mere 60 pieces, NGC has graded just a single example finer in the CAM designation. Blazing white surfaces gleam boldly with a mint fresh reflective brilliance. Sharply impressed devices show off a bold contrast between their frosted reliefs and the icy, sleek mirrored finish of the fields. The eye appeal is excellent. Only 60 Proofs were struck. PCGS 2, NGC 2. A PCGS PR65 CAM sold for $26,400 in June 2018 and the current Collectors Universe value is listed at $33,500. NGC has graded just a single PR67 CAM finer, a coin that has been off the market since its last auction sale in the May 2015 sale of the Eugene Gardner Collection.
