Ex D.L. Hansen Collection, as noted on the insert. A lovely, delicately toned PQ GEM example of this Civil War date. Sharply struck devices stand out against the flashy, reflective fields. The surfaces are blushed with a soft pastel lavender and golden copper-nickel color. A few minor flecks can be seen with the aid of a strong glass, but they do not detract much from the otherwise bold, GEM visual allure. Only 550 Proofs were struck. PCGS 30, NGC 29, CAC 12. Just four are graded higher at PCGS in the designation. Realizing $3,290 in our July 2021 Regency Auction, the current Collectors Universe value is $3,400 and the CAC CPG value is $3,980.
