- Glossy rose-brown surfaces are richly original in preservation with strong eye appeal. The obverse border lightly engages the peripheral features at upper left, reverse better centered with minor softness at upper and lower borders. In general, however, this is a boldly to sharply defined Fugio that nicely represents both the type and variety. A hint of faded mint color still clings to the rings at right center on the reverse. A trace of faint carbon on the obverse require magnification to discern; there are no troublesome marks or flan flaws. Definitely superior to the vast majority of Mint State examples from the Bank of New York Hoard, which contained 246 examples of Newman 8-B when inventoried in 1948.
