1811/10 S-286 R3 Overdate 11 over 10. PCGS graded AU-58. CAC.Choice lustrous light chocolate brown with lighter steel brown toning in protected areas and very faded mint red showing in the protected areas on the reverse. A sharp, nearly flawless cent that has just a light touch of friction on the highest points of the devices. The only notable mark is a small rim nick at star 1. Nicely struck EDS, Breen state I, without any die clashmarks. The overdate feature is bold. Graded AU50 Choice and tied for CC#1 honors in the Noyes census, his photo #20326. Bland says AU50 and tied for CC#2. Your cataloger has had the pleasure of cataloging the three top examples of this variety, and in my opinion this is the finest of that group and it's the only piece with any mint color remaining. Our grade is AU58, same as the PCGS grade. This is the plate coin for the variety in the 1991 Noyes reference and it comes with a very nice provenance. The attribution and Doug Bird Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; none finer.(PCGS # 36490) Value $60,000 - UP
