- MEXICO. Emiliano Zapata Commemorative Gold Medal, ND (ca. 1961-63)-Mo. NGC MS-65. 38 mm; 41.81 gms. Grove-P-378. Emiliano Zapata on horseback speaking to farmer standing to side; Reverse: Mexican flag with radiant sun behind with inscription on scroll below. Struck to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Zapata's proclamation of the Plan de Ayala. A RAREmodern mint issue with a total mintage of just 110 pieces in gold over a three year period. Fine die brush lines in fields indicating this piece was probably struck later in the mintage and gives the piece a nice satin appearance. no marks of handling and with straight sharp rims.
