While this date is seen with cameo contrast on a somewhat regular basis, 1887 halves with DCAM contrast are extremely RARE. Frosted devices, showing generally full strikes that contrast against icy smooth, crystal clear, deep and beaming proof mirrors! The contrast is dramatic and clear. Essentially untoned, save for a gentle touch of the clearest gold, and the eye appeal is AMAZING!" Only 710 Proofs were struck. PCGS 1, NGC 2, CAC 1. Nearly five years ago, this coin sold for $9,106, and the current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $12,500. Just two are finer at PCGS.
