1879 Pattern Goloid Metric Dollar. Judd-1627, Pollock-1823. Rarity-5. Silver. Reeded Edge. Proof-62 (PCGS). OGH--Second Generation. William Barber's portrait of Liberty left LIBERTY on wide headband, E PLURIBUS UNUM arcs above, date below, reverse with circle of 38 tiny stars, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA 100 CENTS around, 15.3-G. / 236.7-S. / 28-C. / 14 GRAMS within on four lines. Iridescent orange-gold toning appears to drift toward the borders on both sides, the patina deeper and more vivid on the obverse. The central reverse is close to full brilliance in fact, and all areas are equally reflective with a vibrant, nicely mirrored finish. A full strike and minimum number of wispy contact marks provide superior eye appeal at the assigned grade level.
