- FROM THE SEATTLE COLLECTION This is an extremely RARE R-7+ die trial struck from the regular Proof dies, in aluminum with a plain edge. These were produced in the 1870s and sold in sets that included the Seated Liberty quarter, half, and dollar that were muled 1863 obverses with the With Motto reverses. There are six currently graded between PCGS and NGC, and Pollock lists three in his reference. From our July 2018 sale of the Steven Cook Collection, where we described it as: Generally very pleasing with an icy look. Taking in just the obverse you see a coin that is finer than you would expect of a 62 grade. The reverse has some streaks that were in the planchet, as made at the mint. Housed in an OGH. PCGS 1, NGC 0, CAC 1. Selling in July 2018, it realized $2,585. Prior to that, this coin was first offered in Stack's September 1997 sale where it realized $3,300 and more recently it sold for $2,943 (prior to being CAC'd). The current Collector's Universe value is listed at $3,750. Cert. Number 9326832 PCGS # 60479.00
