The present coin has, for the date, an incredible contrast! Watery reflective mirrors sparkle with a brilliant vivacity in the fields. The clarity of the mirrors contrasts against the frosted devices. Blushes of blue and gold can be seen in areas of the obverse, while the reverse remains virtually untoned. The eye appeal is quite intriguing and high end. Only 551 Proofs were struck. PCGS 9, NGC 5, CAC 3. The most recent example to sell in auction realized $4,290 in our April 2018 Premier Session. Today, the PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $4,250. This coin when it last sold was a non-CAC NGC PR67, selling for $4,847 in July 2014 (it originally sold in the Newman sale for $8,813).
