- 1883 Liberty Head Half Eagle. MS-63 (PCGS). Frosty mint luster mingles with rose-gold patina on surfaces that are sharply struck throughout the design. After record mintages in 1881 (especially) and 1882, circulation strike half eagle production at the Philadelphia Mint stepped back markedly in 1883 with a delivery of 233,400 coins.
