This marvelous SUPERB GEM is tied for SECOND FINEST graded at either service, and it boasts an incredible eye appeal. Richly toned with deep gold at the mixing with shades of orange, rose, and bold pink toward the peripheries. As you rotate the satiny surfaces in a light, accents of pale sky blue cling to the recesses of the obverse design elements. The lower reverse edge shows wonderful sunset-rainbow that melds to rose gold across that side. Nicely struck for the date, both sides show nearly full definition and the surfaces are devoid of all but the tiniest marks. The eye appeal is truly AMAZING. PCGS 122, NGC 30, CAC 39. There are 13 in MS66+ and since 2016 we have had the honor of selling all the PCGS MS66+ examples that have sold in auction. The most recent example sold for $15,275 in our July 2022 Regency Auction; prior to that, one sold for $23,500. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $20,500. PCGS has graded a single MS67 finer, a coin that was "made" recently, as none had been graded better than MS66+ when we sold the last one.
