FROM THE M & S PETTY COLLECTION Deep, rich, original toning envelopes the surfaces of this lustrous, CHOICE Mint State 1873 silver dollar. In 1873, Congress passed a law, that among other items, ended the coinage of silver dollars and commenced the striking of Trade dollars. The present example offers a hint of reflection in the fields, which when caught in a light, really accent the deep blue toning and sharply impressed devices. The eye appeal is quite pleasing, free of any serious marks. PCGS 17, NGC 20. The most recent example sold in November 2021 for $7,200 and prior tot that, none have sold since 2009! The current Collectors Universe value is listed at $8,500. Just 10 are graded finer at NGC worthy of a strong bid and placement in another high end set of Seated Liberty dollars. Cert.
