- What a wonderful near-GEM Seated Liberty dollar. Boasting a deep, rich, original toning that envelopes this lustrous and CHOICE Mint State 1873 silver dollar. Offering more than a hint of reflection in the fields, which when caught in a light, really accent the deep blue toning and sharply impressed devices. The eye appeal is quite pleasing, free of any serious marks. In 1873, Congress passed a law, that among other items, ended the coinage of silver dollars and commenced the striking of Trade dollars. PCGS 17, NGC 20. This coin most recently sold as part of our offering of the M&S Petty Collection, where it brought $5,170 in our July 2022 Regency Auction and we think it should sell for more today.
