- 1811 Capped Bust Left Half Eagle. BD-2. Rarity-3. Small 5. EF-45 (PCGS). This handsome piece is warmly toned in a blend of honey-orange and rose-gold shades, the most vivid highlights confined to the peripheries. A sharply defined example with a few wispy grazes in the upper reverse field that accuracy alone compels us to mention. The two known die marriages of the 1811 half eagle are of roughly equal scarcity in numismatic circles, their combined population generous enough to make this issue one of the preferred type candidates in the Capped Bust Left series.
