The brilliant mirrors contrast sensationally against the frosted reliefs. The surfaces are nearly PRISTINE and even a strong glass fails to reveal even a single line or tick worthy of mention. From a technical and visual standpoint, this Proof gold dollar is exceptionally high end and beautiful! Only 1,006 Proofs were struck. PCGS 10, NGC 7, CAC 7. It has been three years since the most recent example sold in auction, realizing $10,800 in the 2019 ANA Auction. Prior to that, there are records at $12,000. Today, the CAC CPG value is listed at $13,000 and the Collectors Universe value at $15,250. Only a half dozen examples are graded higher in the designation, all PR67 CAM and no doubt include some duplication of submissions.
