- 1861 Indian Cent. Proof-64 (PCGS). CAC. Handsome surfaces are fully impressed with a softly frosted to semi-reflective finish. The reverse is smooth and dressed in warm tan-olive, the obverse with iridescent champagne-pink overtones and some faint spotting that does little more than preclude a full Gem grade. From an estimated Proof mintage for the date of 400 to 500 pieces. "Such estimates vary widely, and I have seen numbers as low as 100 and as high as 1,000," notes Dave Bowers in his reference on the series. Provenance: From the Jerome S. Reznick Collection.
