详细说明: Ex Bender Collection, as noted on the insert. On the cusp of a GEM classification, this popular overdate combines high end quality for the grade, spectacular color, and a world class pedigree. The JR-4 die pairing is identified by the 30/29 overdate combined with a reverse with the second T in STATES set lower than on the JR-5. This is a popular Rarity-2 variety. Splashes of blue and brown patina are imbued with antique gold over rich pearlescent-dove silver. A frosty luster catches the light from below the lovely colors enhancing the look. The strike is somewhat blunt just off the central devices, but the peripheries are crisply defined with sharp star centers and bold letters. Close inspection with a strong glass fails to reveal any serious contact of any kind. The eye appeal is spectacular. PCGS 3, NGC 0, CAC 2. There are just a handful of examples graded finer than this near-GEM. Realizing $6,600 in the January 2023 Heritage sale of the Bender Collection, Part II.
