详细说明: 1787 Fugio Copper. Pointed Rays. W-6915, Newman 15-Y. URS-10. STATES UNITED, 4 Cinquefoils, 8-Pointed Stars on Label. AU-53 (PCGS). The reverse die is diagnostic for the Newman 15-Y variety, the label exhibiting two eight-pointed stars within depressed areas. This particular example was struck from the latest-known state of the dies with a large piece of the reverse die having fallen away leaving a blob of metal within the center of ring 7. This die break occurred at a junction of a couple of smaller die cracks (as struck). The late state of the obverse is attributable by the presence of a sharp crack (also as struck) from the rim at 4 o'clock across the sundial.<br /> Lovely sandy-brown and olive-brown patina is well blended over surfaces that reveal only a few swirls of variegated color in the centers and along the lower borders on both sides. Well centered in strike with ample boldness of detail, this is a problem-free piece at the assigned grade. The planchet stock is very nice with no fissures, laminations or other detracting flaws. With no Mint State examples known to PCGS, this low-pop AU should be of obvious importance to the Fugio Cent Registry Set collector.
